DUCTZ of Southeast Michigan Donates Air Duct Cleaning to a new Habitat for Humanity Family in Ypsilanti

DUCTZ improves Indoor Air Quality together with Habitat for Humanity Huron Valley

DUCTZ Air Duct Cleaning and HVAC Restoration gave back to the community this week by donating its services to a nearly completed Habitat for Humanity home in Ypsilanti, Michigan.  DUCTZ of Southeast Michigan provided an air duct cleaning for the 3-bedroom home, which is one of dozens that teams from Habitat of Humanity Huron Valley have refurbished–complete with new roof, siding, windows and doors, sealed crawl spaces, new kitchen and appliances, new furnace, and washer and dryer. This house will soon be home to a new family in the neighborhood, providing a backyard for children to play and a place to create lasting memories. By cleaning the air ducts before a new family moves in, DUCTZ helps make the inside of the home safer and healthier for them as well.

For the past few decades, allergy and asthma rates have been on the rise in the U.S., and according to one statewide study conducted of Habitat for Humanity homeowners in Minnesota, over one-third of the people living in Habitat for Humanity homes have asthma or allergies. Typically, the history of Habitat’s refurbished homes is not clear, so it’s unknown whether there were common sources of allergens–like dogs, cats, pests, or rodents–previously in the house. These factors, paired with the volume of debris that builds up in the ductwork during construction can be detrimental to the health of an asthma or allergy-prone child or adult.
